It's that wonderful time of year again, when winter starts to wind down, and spring and summer are just around the corner. After a long, cold, harsh winter, there is nothing better than more sunshine and warmer days. Driving is especially better with no more cold, wet, and slippery roads. Driving also becomes less dangerous and less risky for those who have to commute day to day. So, if you’re going to be driving in the hot weather, be sure that your vehicle has the right set of tires.

Having the right set of tires for the summer is as important as having the right set of tires for the winter. If you're thinking about using your winter tires for summer, you are making a big mistake and taking a risk. Winter tire treads are designed with a softer compound that is only good for colder temperatures, so at hotter temperatures the tread will wear much faster and lose a lot of traction. Winter tires are built only to handle temperatures of 40 degrees F and below. Driving above this temperature can cause serious tire failure, which usually leads to a blowout, potentially causing danger to yourself and others around you on the road. So, be sure that your vehicle has the right tires for the hot weather.

Summer tires are engineered to endure dry, hot roads with a tire compound that stays soft with high temperatures. It's important for the tread compound to stay soft, because it gives the tire more grip creating better performance for steering and braking. If you live in an area that doesn't get too hot in the summer, all season tires will be the way to go.  All Season tires are built to handle all types of different weather, but since they have a balanced compound that can handle both warm and cool temperatures. However, all season tires are not ideal for areas with hot summer temperatures.

Having the right set of tires for your vehicle can benefit you in many ways - comfort and performance being the most beneficial. Also, with the right set of tires you can save a lot of money on gas. For example, if you were to have your winter tires on in the summer, it could cause your vehicle to work harder, because it can't get any grip. If your tires are struggling for grip, it leads to more trips to the gas station. So, when it comes to purchasing your summer tires, it is best to look at it as an investment rather than an expense, because in the end you will be saving more money than you think.
